New Look, Same Heart: Finding Confidence in the Transitions

Hi everyone! 💜

I’m sitting down today feeling a little lighter, a little bolder, and incredibly grateful. I recently decided to update my profile and my space here with a photo that feels truly "me." If you’ve seen it, you’ll notice it captures my favorite dreadlock style. There’s something about this look that just clicks - it makes me feel confident, creative, and full of Grace. But as I was looking at that photo, I realized that a "new look" is rarely just about the hair or the clothes. It’s about the person underneath finally feeling ready to be seen. It’s about matching our outer world to the internal shifts we’ve been working through.

The Power of Personal Style

Life has its ups and downs, and lately, I’ve been learning to embrace them both. For a long time, I think many of us are taught that "style" is something superficial. We’re told it’s just about trends or following what’s on a magazine cover. But I’ve come to believe that personal style is actually a form of self-respect.

When I look at my dreadlocks, I don't just see a hairstyle. I see a journey. I see patience. I see a choice to stand out rather than blend in. Your unique light and your own personal style are exactly what the world needs right now. In a world full of copies, being "truly you" is the most motivating thing you can do for others.

When you show up as your authentic self, you subconsciously give everyone else permission to do the same. That is how we share positive vibes - not just by what we say, but by how we carry ourselves.

Navigating the Seasons of Change

We all go through seasons where we feel the need to "shed our skin." Maybe you’re coming out of a difficult time, or maybe you’re stepping into a new business venture like my journey with GLAMMAMIS EVENTS. Whatever it is, these transitions often come with a desire for a fresh start.

I’ve learned that we shouldn't shy away from these changes. Whether it’s a new haircut, a new way of dressing, or a new way of speaking your truth, these are milestones. They mark the moment we decided to stop playing small and start taking up the space we were meant to occupy.

Life’s "downs" have a way of trying to dim our light. They make us want to hide, to wear "boring" colors, and to keep our voices low. But I want this blog to be a reminder to you (and to myself!) that the "ups" are always coming. When we dress for the life we want, and when we style ourselves in a way that feels powerful, we actually help invite those "ups" back in.

Why Confidence is a Practice, Not a Destination

People often ask me, "How do you stay so confident?" The truth is, I don't always feel confident. Confidence isn't a permanent state of mind where you never feel doubt; it’s a practice. It’s the act of showing up even when your heart is thumping.

Choosing a style that makes you feel "Full of Grace" is a tool in that practice. On the days when the "downs" feel a bit too heavy, I lean into the things that make me feel like me. I lean into my creativity. I lean into the textures and styles that remind me of my strength.

If you are in a season where you feel like you’ve lost your spark, I want to encourage you to do one small thing today that makes you feel "truly you." It doesn't have to be a big makeover. It could be wearing your favorite color, trying a new hairstyle, or simply standing a little taller in the mirror.

The Journey We Share

This blog is my space to uplift you, motivate you, and remind you that you are not alone in the middle of your mess. I am right there with you, navigating the same waves.

I’ve realized that the more I share my own "shaky voice" and my own "new looks," the more I connect with people who are going through the exact same thing. We are a community of people who are refusing to be defined by our struggles. We are choosing, instead, to be defined by our resilience and our light.

Thank you for being on this journey with me. Thank you for allowing me to share the "unfiltered" version of my life - the grief, the business, the hair updates, and the heart-to-hearts. Your support is the "wind in my sails" that keeps me writing and sharing.

A Note on Grace

Grace is a word I keep coming back to. It’s not just a name or a pretty concept; it’s a way of living. It’s being kind to yourself when you haven't reached your goals yet. It’s having the courage to change your mind and your look - whenever you feel called to.

As I move forward with this "New Look," my heart remains the same. It’s a heart that wants to see you win. It’s a heart that believes in the power of a fresh start.
